About Me

Hello! My name is Sheepa, and like most people, I love food. Whether I’m creating my own recipes, eating food cooked by someone else or even just talking about food!

But what makes me different from the millions of other food bloggers out there? Well… that’s a very good question. My background is what makes me different from the rest.

My parents are from Bangladesh, but I was born and brought up in the UK eating traditional Bangladeshi curries. My family’s palette always craves hot and spicy food, so western dishes seemed ‘bland’ to them most of the time. What do they know!?

In 2011, I moved to London to start my adventure with a new job and a mission to have the time of my life. I love to cook and bake and this fascination started a long time ago. But living at home and sharing my mum’s kitchen was difficult. Despite this, I’ve been able to create some wonderful dishes, which not only look good, but taste good too (so I’ve been told).

Being a Muslim, I’ve always had restrictions and have had to be careful with the type of food I eat and what I drink, i.e. no pork or alcohol. But I turned this around to play to my strengths and decided to find alternative ingredients and experiment with them. I hope this will intrigue others to try my suggestions or even help those in a similar situation to me.

My strategy for this blog is to post photos along with the recipes and step-by-step cooking instructions. Living in London also gives me the great pleasure and opportunity to eat out and try new places. I’m always on the lookout for halal restaurants too. So expect some reviews as well.

I hope you like it, and if you have any comments, requests or suggestions – please let me know! I’m always happy to give ideas a go and take things on board. And please share with your family and friends!

So I present to you, Food That Makes You Smile!
